Real Madrid keep advancing on Kylian Mbappé deal with confidence — but nothing has been signed yet.
Formal decision on player side expected soon.
Nasser Al Khelaifi & PSG have not received any formal communication yet.
It’s a crucial step, part of the pact with Kylian.
The widespread feeling is that Mbappe himself has decided it is finally time to move on but the Madrid offer so far hasn't been to the satisfaction of the player or his entourage. Potential switches to Liverpool or Arsenal have been explored but neither wants to break their wage structure to go
for him.
Le Parisien's Saturday report ignited a frenzy on social media, proclaiming, "France's biggest star will join the world's biggest club next season." The optimism in Madrid is palpable as negotiations reportedly proceed to secure what could be the most lucrative contract for the captain of Les Bleus.
Mbappe, renowned for his on-field prowess, seems to enjoy being the center of footballing attention. However, his recent comments about longing for anonymity juxtapose sharply with his actions, which often place him in the limelight.
PSG, as well as Real Madrid, appear weary of this discourse. The speculation of a move to Madrid, which was rife last summer, now seems distant, with neither club making definitive moves.
In the summer of 2023, neither did PSG sell Mbappe as Nasser Al-Khelaifi had hinted, nor did Real Madrid pursue the signing they had previously yearned for. Mbappe, maintaining his stance from 2022, refused to renew his contract, aiming to dominate negotiations.
Look, I'm not hiding anything," Al Khelaifi said to RMC. "For sure I want Mbappe to stay. For me he is the best in the world and for me the best club for Kylian is Paris.
"He is the center of the project today. It's normal to ask about him. For me he is the best in the world, I have a very good relationship with him. Not only as a player, as a person.
"He has an agreement with me, as he has said. There is no negotiation, but I think he is still young, he wants to win many trophies and hopefully with us.
Ancelotti doubled down on that stance last month with the January transfer window open. He said: “I’m not going to comment about this topic. No comment, you should know we don’t speak about it.”
Mbappe is currently in the middle of another sensational season with PSG. He has scored 29 goals in just 28 appearances in all competitions for the French giants.
His form has led PSG to an eight-point lead at the top of Ligue 1. Should they win the league this term, Mbappe would depart France as a seven-time champion. He won his first title with Monaco ahead of moving to PSG.
Mbappe will be hoping to extend his form in midweek against Brest, ahead of a league clash against Lille. PSG then get their Champions League campaign back underway against Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Death, taxes and Liverpool popping up in Mbappe stories. The Reds have been persistently linked to the Frenchman since failed attempts to sign him from Monaco back in 2017. Despite the player going on to reach superstardom at PSG – effectively putting himself comfortably outside Liverpool’s wage structure – reports of a future move to Anfield have never ceased.
